reinvigorator, was an interactive participatory piece I made for my end of year Degree Show. I featured alongside a plethora of other graduating students, in what I believe is one of the strongest end of year shows Glasgow School of Art has had of late. The Degree Show was held at the Tontine Building, 20 Trongate, Glasgow, across the entire 3rd & 4th floors, which are part of Glasgow School of Art’s campus. The Degree Show was on from 01/06 - 08/06/18, with the 1st June being the private view and from the 2nd onwards it was open to the public.

With this project I continued my exploration of the resonant and emotional attachments people have to meaningful conversation via an immersive socially activated space. As a lover of sociality and discussion, my practice encompasses the active and decorative facets of sculpture, design and painting.

In putting together reinvigorator I looked to provide people with a separate and safe space in which to gather together and interact with one another whether that be via conversation or by simply occupying the same space in a way that is free from stress or critique. Investigating conversation and the many different forms this can take, reinvigorator was the culmination of my 4 years of study at The Glasgow School of Art and a continuation of the idyllic social spaces I’ve been striving to create for the last 2 and a half years. I hoped to provide some brief respite from everybody’s daily goings on, to encourage an open mind and offer people a place to relax and reflect upon our shared sociality.
